Steam train at Goodna, Qld #1 (CF031559)

One of the steam locos from the Cityrail’s special runs of 19-21 April from Ipswich to Shorncliffe and return (see details below). I went to Goodna and captured this from the fenced Dog Exercise off leash grounds at Goodna.

Queensland Rail is currently conducting a training program to increase the number of drivers who are steam qualified for use on Heritage Services. The drivers undergoing the training are currently qualified on other forms of rollingstock services.

In order to allow the drivers practical experience on a main line, arrangements have been made for special steam operated trips on Monday 19, Tuesday 20, and Wednesday 21 April between Ipswich and Shorncliffe and return.

These services are available to the general public and customers will not have to purchase special tickets and may travel using their existing go Card or TransLink paper tickets.

QR Heritage Volunteers will man each of the carriages to assist customers during their trips who are unfamiliar with the Steam Train services.

These special additional services will stop at all stations in both directions departing Ipswich station at 09:12 with expected arrival at Central 10:34 & Shorncliffe approx 11:20, will then return to Ipswich departing Shorncliffe station 12:18 arriving at Central at approx 13:03 & Ipswich 14:24.
